Waiting for my train to Ella from Hatton, Sri Lanka.

Had just waved goodbye to some new friends from Spain. The next train to Ella was delayed and I was a little annoyed because of it. I now realise and am reminded that things happen for a reason. I now had more time at the station and met a beautiful family, my friend travelling with me spent time feeding the stray dogs determined to save them all .

I am now grateful for the delay as I was able to capture this image, which still remains a favourite. Lesson learnt, just go with it and don’t rush.

While taking photos one proudly showed off a fish just caught with an invitation to get up on the stilts, I rejected the offer as I was more keen on taking photos. My dear friend Moe took up the challenge and is still in pain to this day, not as easy as it looks.

One of many photos from Sri Lanka that I will be sharing this week. This girl with the magical smile was captured during my train ride from Hatton to Ella.

She was shy at first and barely visible peering out the window, I simply waved and smiled and we shared many small moments and giggles. If I am able to somehow express how incredible the Sri Lankan people are it can be seen through this girl’s smile.
